Hi, just a few shots from a trip to the Melbourne zoo on the weekend.
I'm still very much a beginner, so any thoughts/comments would be much appreciated.

Lovely rich, saturated colours. You are doing great for a beginner!!!

These shots work well apart from the first one. When doing portraiture of animals in captivity I always prefer to adjust the depth of field to blur out the background and I usually move in close to disguise the fact that the animals are in a zoo.

You successfully pull this off in your last three shots but the one of the tiger is a bit cluttered with foreground matter etc. Try cropping the picture.

That's the tree kangaroo Gus mentioned...

The first 2 are my favorites... love the eyes of the tiger and the ever vigilant meerkat.

Hi there Shane.......wow you got the Tiger actually sitting .....gawwwd we stood their for ages and ages the other week and the Tiger just paced the whole time and was way up the back of the enclosure.

Gotta love those little MeerKats they are so cute, they look like they are really interested in whats going on around them dont they :D

The butterfly enclosure is really nice, I noticed they have really thinned out the vegetation in there compared to the last time we went up to the Melbourne Zoo.

Welcome to Dgrin Shane, hope you enjoy the forum, and we look forward to seeing more pictures from you.......thanks for sharing.
