Hello Folks,
I have decided to 'de-lurk' and introduce myself. I am a UK photographer based in West Lothian, Scotland. I have enjoyed reading the posts on this site for a few years now and would like to say that it has been a great place to visit for inspiration - thankyou all!!

Due to the bad weather here, I haven't been doing much shooting but having just adopted two retired greyhounds (one of which was terribly abused and left to starve to death) I find myself fascinated by their elegance and beauty. This is a picture I took of Crumble the first time we went to the beach. She took off over the dunes and was running back to me when I took this shot.

Glennis.....Beautiful photo with great color. You also have a very nice looking website. Good luck with your dogs. They are lucky that you found them. We have Bearded Collies from your neck of the woods.

Thanks Joe - this is the first time I have owned a dog(s) so I find them a constant source of amusement especially now their character (away from the racing world) is coming out. Roddie, my black dog, loves his bed and likes to collect as many things in it as he can. I am glad to report that it all remains undamaged. They are such a misunderstood breed and have the most gentle and lovable traits.

I took this candid shot just after I got Crumble (the white one). As you can see they are just bursting with energy!!!

A few years ago we owned a Greyhound (Mac) that looked very much like your Crumble. Unfortunately he developed cancer, probably from the herbicides used at the tracks to control weeds the Vet said, and we lost him. Your picture of the two dogs shows why they are called “forty mile an hour couch potatoes”. We never could get ours to lay on the floor, even with a pad, he preferred the couch, the bed, or my Wife’s lap the best. She never could convince him that he was too big to be a lap dog. You’re in for quite a treat, they have a wonderful, peaceful personality and love to be around people. Do yours like to lean against you?

Roddie likes to lean against and lie on top!! He is a huge dog (nearly 39 Kg) and I am a very little lady!!! It looks a bit comical and also a little uncomfortable when he decides to sit on me....ha ha. Did your dog like to collect things in his bed, particularly shoes??

Crumble is a sweet little girl and loves to snuggle up with her head right under my chin.

As I said before I have never owned a dog but greyhounds are for me!!

Mac's bed, was our bed, thank God for California Kings. He wasn't much for toys, he was too busy trying to get in someone's lap. If he got out he was gone. All the neighbors would watch him run down the block to the next corner and vanish around it. We took him out after we had him for a year to the Greyhound Picnic, and Mac was clocked, on radar, at 44 MPH. This was after he had lost all those bulging steroid induced muscles. It's been ten years since we lost Mac, and my Wife and I still miss him.

They look like very cool dogs. I heard race greyhounds can accelerate from 0-40 mph in about 3 seconds. It's nice to know people can care for them when they are past their prime. The shot is gorgeous, and has an interesting crop.

Crumble was a long distance runner while Roddie was short distance and very fast in short bursts. When they are play running, Crumble has the better endurance and exasperates Roddie when he can't keep up.
