Nice action Gary :thumb
Looks like you had the same harsh lighting as Oldtime :huh The player's arm and especially his face are borderline blowout. At least they look that way on my $99 work LCD....LOL
Still, a nice shot :clap

Yeah, Good ol' Semi-Tropical, always sunny, SoCal Sun. ... I've been thinking about a fill-in flash ... but then I'd lose shutter speed and lens length. I have few options ... either expose for the faces (shadows) and
blow-out everything else or expose for everything else
and have great grass but no detail on the faces. The
shadows and highlights are so polar that shooting in
the middle just gets you mud ... everything looks
crappy.
There isn't enough exposure compensation to
get the histogram over to the right (yes, I'm chimping
- lol), so most of the time I shoot manual. Manual
results aren't all that great either as some shots get
more over-exposed when their faces flash for a moment
out of shadows or under-exposed if they turn suddenly
into the sun (backlighted) . What's a mother to do?
But all in all PS is a big help in presenting a
somewhat decent final snap.
Anyway Steve, Thanks for looking and you comments.

I would say get the player right and don't worry about blowing the background
this match i had to shoot into the sun it's a real pain

nice shot Gary - I like how you can really follow the ball w/ the players eyes (you got some serious eye whites there:D). I can really appreciate what you're dealing w/ - got the same (if not more so - no AM cloud cover) harsh conditions out where I am as well. And like you, thank goodness for PS!
cheers,
C.

Great shot, love the expression and the ball in the air is dead on. You did a very fine job on these.

At least in the IE you have parking and better pricing for housing (lol). Just shot an 8am game in Torrance, no marine layer ... tried shooting into the sun just for the heck of it ... will post later.
