A while ago, I shot a regatta in Foster City, CA.
I saw this guy just across the lagoon....

He must have lived in the area. Stopped, shot a few and wandered
back. Must be a pro too...he chimps.

Then I turned around and took this....

I think the lens was a 600mm. I have thought on and off
about a used 500mm...

Try here (http://www.sportsshooter.com/special_feature/chimping/index.html). It's a short feature on chimping. You can learn from the pros!

p.s. everybody chimps :D
Ive read several ideas from whence it derived. One was that it was originaly called APEing back in the days when only AP photogs could afford digitals & they would all look at others shots in the LCD.
Me ? i recon its when you take a shot...either look at it yourself or show someone & make a small 'grunt' at the shot of either approval or disapproval.

That guy is good. Chimping with sunglasses takes loads of talent :rofl
I've always wanted to chimp :cry Almost as much as I want one of those LARGE, fast, L tele's. 400mm, 500mm, or 600mm, makes no difference. Give me one of those (and a donkey to tote it :lol ) and I'll be good ta go.
Does showing others the image in the LCD, even though you can't see it yourself, count as chimping? If so, there's hope for me :rofl

Kind of funny taking stealth, papparrazzi shots of a fellow with a lens like that. Seems kind of backwards :rofl :rofl :rofl

I want the shot of his face when he gets home & throws it up & sees ian with a barrel aimed right at him.

Now if I could get someone to throw it up on SportsShooter (maczippy...?)...maybe I
could find out who it was :D
Zippy, if you do it, please crop and enlarge it a bit so it looks more like a stealthy
shot :D
'gus, I've heard that story as well. Sounds plausible. And Harry? It's chimping if
you show the image to anyone :D In this example; the glasses are meant to throw
one off the track. "Why it's clear he couldn't really be chimping...I mean look at
those glasses--they're as dark as night".
