Hi,

I tried searching and couldn't find the answer. Is there a software out there that would scan the hard drives for potential duplicate image files???

It should have the option to do checks against EXIF info and such to determine if there is a file duplicate.

I have a HD full of pictures..almost 60Gig worth and about 15 Gig backed up already.

I want to bring the 15 Gig back in and figure out exactly where the duplicates are and delte them.

Any software that does this job well ??

Thanx

Thanx for all you rhelp.

You could try VisiPics. Freeware that I downloaded from C-net.

Bump for a good question. I'm moving this to Digital Darkroom Gear.

There are many many of these programs out there. Some are more for photos, some are more for any type of file. Some use CRC checking, some byte count, some actually use some kinda color algorhythm to find similarities and color patterns which can find duplicates even if one is a thumbnail and the other is a full sized image. I haven't used one of these in quite some time, so I'm not going to comment on specific programs, but take a look at http://www.download.com, http://www.tucows.com, etc.

Just found this, which also looks pretty promising:

Looks like a free trial download with a cheap $20 license.
