Been lurking for a couple of weeks after creating an account, decided to de-lurk here.
I recently went on a cruise of the Inside Passage in Alaska and one of the excursions I took was a flightseeing trip of the Misty Fjords National Monument out of Ketchikan. It was a cloudy day with patches of rain and drizzle that interfered with getting shots from the co-pilot's seat. All I had with me was a small Sony digital camera and not much room to wield it ... I had to trust the auto-focus and set the camera to full-auto mode. Unfortunately I didn't notice the camera was also set to multi-point focus and lost a lot of potentially fine shots due to it finding a raindrop, a reflection, or a part of the wing that it wanted to focus on instead. Still though, I did get a few shots I liked and wanted to share them.
I am on a dial-up line at the moment so I will only paste links to the appropriate photos in my smugmug album.
The following 2 shots were taken as we were flying over some lowlands near the Behm Canal. I really liked the colors of the lakes, streams, trees and muskeg.

The next shots were taken as we got into the Misty Fjords proper around Punchbowl Cove. I had to do a lot of post-processing to reduce the effects of the mist and rain.

Landing in Rudyerd Bay, a water-filled trench cutting through the mountains, was fun and I got a few shots during and after the landing that I think gives a bit of a feel for the location.

On the way back out of the Misty Fjords, we circled an island (New Eddystone Rock) in the Behm Canal that is all that remains of a volcanic magma core after advancing and retreating glaciers dismantled and carried away the rest of the volcano.

Hope y'all enjoyed the brief trip through the Monument!
