Kite Boarding -- Waddell Creek

Waddell Creek is just North of Santa Cruz. When the wind is up, this is
the place to find the kite boarders.

To watch them is to see the water ballet. When the wind and waves
combine as they did today, it's a thing of beauty.

I almost liked it better before kite surfing got to be so popular. I'd sit and watch those board sailers hit the waves and flip up, or turn somersaults in the air -- those were the days!

All the kiters do is hang in the air for a bit!

We were watching one poor kiter at Crissy Field whose kite fell in the water. It took him almost an hour of trying to get the kite back in the air, he finally gave up and swam back to shore with board and kite.
