Very nice!
I wonder how this would look shot with a telephoto and from a
higher POV (farther back as well)?

Hello Ian408 & DJ-S1 ,
There are many ways to take a picture.
I could have shot at 200mm but I wanted to get the surface detail of the statue so I took up close shots (1 & 2 (2@the)). And the one you posted as a scene setter. For some reason statue skin is hard to capture correctly. That is why I had my manual flash on.
There was no higher vantage point as can be seen from the last shot.
But next time I will try your suggestions (200 mm and overhead with my F-828 swivel body).
DJ, sorry, your reply went over my head.
Regards, Nicholas

Hi Nicholas,
The name of the statue is Rocket Thrower by Donald De Lue, it was made for the '64 World's Fair.
The "info here" is a link to the page.

I like that the statue can be isolated against the sky for a simple background. SO many statues I have wished to photograph I cannot isolate from all the fences, lights, and railings in the background...

:D Yeah, I was in a hurry...
I like the statue, I think the thing attaching one of his legs to the frame is a bit odd, but I do like it. I guess it didn't get great reviews at the time, huh?
