Howdy all,
I would love to get some feed back on this abstract... an ironic situation I happened upon and one that is kind of an inside joke for firefighters....

The foreground hydrant has had a long standing leak and the background hydrant (approximately 4 feet away) has an outlet that is out of order (signified by the "yellow" disk).

My intention was to have an initial response of the foreground looking like lips drinking from a fountain in the background - and then for the brain to kick in and re-think the image.... Is there enough separation/contrast between the fore and backgrounds??

Thanks for looking and commenting.

I think most people just dont understand, the significance of both fire hydrants or the yellow? collar. so it just looks like a drip :)

Thanks Cookie :clap- that was the feedback I needed - It's too much of an inside joke for it to be an interesting pic for non-firefighters....

cool -

Thanks George - I think you and cookie are right - just too much inside knowledge is required to get the irony and i'm not sure whether re-shooting it with more DOF would help or create more of a mess with too much info/lack of focus.....

I like the drip, but I need to see more of the hydrant. and the background is too out of focus to do anything but confuse. There is great texture available, use that as your main focus and the drip as the punchline.:wink

keep shooting!
