Oh man, what a bummer. Still, a trip to NYC is never wasted. I like the second shot. You really have a pronounced style, damonff.

Oh no.. I would have probably stood there and cried.. maybe stormed in and demanding where it was.. or maybe called Andy to "fix" it.. maybe it's up now?
I'm going to find a web cam..

Bummer Damon..:cry :(: :humungus

Yeah Gubbs, I made a special trip...not that big of a deal as I'm only a 3 and 1/2 hour drive from there. I also got to practice my Mandarin in Chinatown...that was fun. I'm still understood so I haven't lost my tone marks...Lynn, I checked the webcam after I got home last night and it still wasn't up and I checked this morning and the new POTD wasn't up yet either. I guess there was a weekend glitch and no one knew about it...strange...

One of the editors wrote me back and said there was a glitch in the matrix...just kidding. There was some construction that affected their board and their equipment couldn't reboot. She graciously offered to run the photo again on any day that I ask. I asked for 12/31. I hope she says yes!

i spoke with kodak for you damon ... this is what they said:

Hi Andy,

Whoas-me... the Marriott was doing some construction which
caused a power outage to the jumbletron.

Our vendor is working to get the equipment up-and-running,
which hopefully is just a replacement and then reboot of several
of the modules.

I feel awful that Damon drove to NY yesterday to see his picture
-- only to not see it :-(((

I am going to see if he is willing to drive in again. If so, I will
re-run
his picture -- just for him.

Thanks!

The second photo.... please tell me how you did the B/W! this picture has such impact, just WOW! I love this kind of shots, you practice your art at such a high level, you're making me jealous here :wink

Thanks for sharing, and good luck next time, sorry to see that it 'didn't happen'... An extra day NYC might not hurt either :wink

Im sorry too that you didnt get to see your photo... sounds like it might work out though... fingers crossed!

Your B&W shot is really nice... what do you do to the photo to get this effect?

Thanks for the compliment on the b/w. It's a technique I use a lot. Here's what I do:

Adjust the colour in levels...
Adjust the color in curves, usually making it a little extra dramatic...
Change to lab colour...
Pick the lightness channel...
Change photo to grayscale...
Create a new layer...
Drop down menu in new layer, choose vivid...

That's it. Try it!
