I took a trip up to Yosemite this weekend. Took tons of pics (of course). Thought I would submit a few that seemed to fit the shadows theme.
Friend's dog (part wolf) was standing next to their pool studying his own shadow:

Shadow of the rim in the Yosemite Valley:

(unfortunately because of how I had the metering set on the camera, this one came out a little over exposed.)
El Capitan and Half Dome

I don't think the last one really applies very well to the challege, since the shadows on Half Dome aren't really the focus of the shot. I needed a better telephoto lens to pick out some of the shadows, since everything there is so HUGE.
Anyway, a visit to Yosemite is always a cool experience. Thank goodness for large memory cards. :D

I like the third shot the best. I would suggest cropping out you legs shadow on the left side though. The dog checking out his own shadow catches my attention the most out of all these. I like the yosemite shots alot as well, but you may be right as the shadows are by far not the focus of these shots. Great shots though.:thumb

Thanks. Yeah, I didn't really feel comfortable submitting any of my Yosemite pics...didn't seem to fit.
Anyway, just for kicks, I tried correcting and doing some shadow enhancement of the fourth shot.

Here's the crop:

I think that helped. Thanks for the suggestion.

I really like the first shot, man and his dog. I also like the texture of the water and leaves in the second shot of the dog shadow.

Thanks, Sandy. The more I look at that one, I kind of like it too (the first shot). It kind of says "friendship" in an abstract way. :nod

I like the first one too. The shadow of the tree masks your upper body so we can't see that you are taking the picture. Also the curved edge of the pool adds a lot of interest. Nice!

Do you think it needs any cropping?

I don't think the photo needs cropping, I think cropping would take away from the total feeling of the shot. Auto color would enhance the images, and then you could edit to fade the auto color to the desired effect. I do like the shot as it is.

Ok, did some level and color adjustments to bring out the contrast.... What do you think?

Ok, went hiking today at Red Rock Canyon State Park. Some pretty cool shadows there. Not sure if they are submitable, but they were still fun to shoot.

I think you did a nice job. I like the stronger shadow. It's an unusual shot, kinda cool.

Thanks, Sid. To tell you the truth, I really didn't know how it was going to turn out. But, the light cooperated I guess. :wink
