View Full Version : Frontpage for Mac?

Okay, I have made a switch to Apple computers, so far it ROCKS! (Mac Pro) My only concern is my business website, I used Frontpage (FP) to build it, and maintain it as well ( www.perfect-pix.biz ). I am looking for something similar to FP for Mac, but have not found it yet. I downloaded a trial version of Adobe's GoLive, but that looks well uh.... Not photographer friendly. It may work well for people that are fluent in HTML, but there HAS to be something for a photographer turned webmaster... (NOT HARDLY in my case)

Anyway, any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I know it's not the most powerful app, but have you tried iWeb?

Or how about Contribute (http://www.adobe.com/products/contribute/)?

Or Rapidweaver ( http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/)?

WOW! Thanks David, no I have not tried those yet... I am still somewhat intimidated I think.

Looks like I will give the 30 day trial a run... As soon as my wife gets off the Mac Pro, I have been relegated to the Sharp laptop...

David knows all the obscure Mac sites. Has linked you the one that shows how Macs can make Martinis?

But not Gibsons, tho - typical Mac. :rolleyes

:lol3

Personally I highly recommend Shutterbug.

http://www.xtralean.com

This guy switched from a Windows developer to a Mac developer and his stuff is nice! VERY easy...drag and drop.

I created my site ( http://www.jbrphotos.com ) in about an hour...and that was because of the background. I'm getting ready to update it.

Ok... I have finally gotten around to updating my website. I have downloaded trial copies of Contribute, and Shutterbug. Here is my rub though, when I use Front Page from my laptop, I type in the URL of my site, and it asks me for my username and password, I enter that information, and I can edit/change whatever... When I open contribute it asks me how I access my site, and gives options like FTP, SFTP, local network, and webDEV, of which I know nothing! I really WANT to learn, but I am falling behind on my skills, (obviously) can someone suggest how I may edit my site, like I do in FP, only using a MAC based program?

PLEASE?

Thanks!
Mike

Since you've brought this thread back from a while back, the scene has changed.

Maybe take a look at Panic's new Coda application?

BTW, Bill, just want to say it's great having you post. You add a tremendous amount to the site, when you do.

Thanks Sid.

I spend a fair amount of time in these trenches (it's my job ;-) so I tend to have strong opinions. Sometimes from being burned :D

Hope to catch up with you on another photo outing. Though this year's certainly out... Antarctica tore through my vacation like a .50 caliber bullet through a ripe watermelon :cry

Coda looks pretty cool.... As soon as I can get back to the Mac, I'll give it a try!

GRRRR My wife has taken over the GOOD computer, and I get the silly 15" PC laptop! GRRRR
