OK, after a day of thinking, pondering, thinking some more, etc etc...

This is what I came up with.. Whacha think?

Lovely composition. I quite like the shadow under the first dish. It may be a matter of taste, but I tend to like more contrast. Are you deliberately leaving this one very soft and muted?

Very nice, try to shapren it with the unsharp mask tool.

Not really.. Thats just the natural color of my Counter Top, and my less that top shelf Digi Cam.. I currently only have a p&s Canon A300

The idea is a good one. Can you try adjusting the white balance? Either with the
camera or your editing software.

I think it'd be better balanced from a contrast perspective as well.
