*Chall 27, ginger

I think it might be time for this. Not that this is the final one, not at all. It was cloudy and looked like rain this AM. Early afternoon is not my favorite time, or usual time, to shoot this thing. But do you all think it is time?

I am also going to a ballet rehearsal tonight, no flash. I don't know if there will be shadows at all, and I won't have much time. Any suggestions on that will be appreciated. Like if there are shadows, would they be likely to be on the floor or the background. I am only going in as my husband is, I can't talk to anyone to ask questions like this, and my husband won't.

On this shot, I shot it RAW...

47.0 focal length. so there is all the info, and the thing isn't going anywhere but my backyard, so I can shoot it until the end of the challenge.

Never Mind, thanks anyway. See my entry on the Challenge thread. I think it is gorgeous, and well, I can't say anything except I hope the shadows are enough, because, well I just hope. I could do nothing better, though I have many others.

The only facts I know right now is that I was shooting at 1600 ISO, hand held. OK, it was 1/25 sec, F 5.6, 18 mm on a Canon Rebel. Dec first. Oh, it was shot RAW, as were all last night.

I will post some of the others on another thread somewhere............ later.

Ginger, lovely entry.. I took the liberty of taking it and curving it a tad and it brought the shadows out more.. try it and see if you like it:clap

Do you have an example? If I had wanted the shadows out more, I probably would have gone to shadows/highlight. I was more concerned with the highlights being too light, if I remember.

Please give me some details...........?

Please give me some details...........?I just did "adjustment" curves (RGB) and made a little s curve.. pulled it around a bit.. did'nt even look at numbers I'll do it again and post it with the curve if you like..stand by

Is this any better?? I forgot to save the curve. I duplicated the layer I curved the hell out of one copy and then erased the part over the dancers leaving the darker shadows.. real rough quick job but you might try playing with the idea. For the curve secure the center so it does'nt move then pull the lower part of the curve to the right and see what happens.. just a thought..

And thanks for the start on the curve thing, I usually stay away from it. And erasing never seems to go easy for me. I put the black on top, nope, I put the white on top, nope.........think it may not have been in layers? I don't use layers as much as most, so thought that might be my erasure problem.

I don't use layers as much as most, so thought that might be my erasure problem.Dont sweat it.. it's easy.. duplicate the layer first.. curve the top layer (dark) then just erase with a big brush most of the top layer except the new shadows area.

Please look under the people threads, too, I have a Christmas Angel that looks dicey to me. I am going to have to download another Noise thing. Actually, I think they are the same as blurring it, and I do have advice on that.

it's rough but you can do better than me..it's just to give an idea.

Drag your layer first

then curve it...

then use a nice big soft brush and choose eraser to wipe off the dark from your lovely dancers

I really like the colours in the sun clock photograph, I think it reflects the theme well and is interesting to look at. It did though look slightly blurred to me???

The balerina shot is beautiful and the pinks and greens are lovely...

both shots are great!
