Hi Y'all,

Still laid up but I have shots in reserve. On one of my last trips to the wetlands I ran into an old buddy. We have this red shouldered hawk that hangs out in the wetlands and he's a fine model. As long as he's on his fence post and there's this little stream between you and him he doesn't worry about you. He just sits and watches as you set up the tripod and the camera and then he takes a few standard poses before he goes off.

This wasn't his regular post but he was at the entrance to the wetlands. I guess it was his turn to be the greeter.

Nice shots Harry! :thumb We had a juvenile Red-tail at Bolsa Chica, that was quite used to people, and photographers. I would love to get some close-up shots of a Red-shouldered hawk though! I like the casual pose in photo #4.

Nicely done! The closeup on his regular post is beautiful...love the feather detail....I have not been up since I bumped into you last time...was wondering about the BB whistling ducklings...have they been spotted yet?

Hope all is going well with healing!!!

His left foot is injured or he's holding it up in sympathy with your sore foot??:):

I thought I had seen this bird before with you, but that was a red tail, I think, not a red shouldered hawk.

Great series, Harry.

Thanks Glenn. This guy is a sweetheart usually. He does't get too skittish when you approach and he's usully in the same area most of the day.

Thanks Trish. The BBs are around but no signs of any young ones yet. I haven't seen one of the pairs lately so hopefully they are off nesting.

Thanks Kate, I'm glad you enjoy my shos. The hawk's foot was just fine. He had just answered a call of nature and decided to sit a bit.
