Nightingale's garden continues to attract insects and I have been shooting a few frames of them from time to time.

Nice!

I really dig the contrasting colors in the first one.

But they're all real nice.

Nice series, well done. I Like the 1st the most because of the colors.

Thanks for sharing.

Dick.

Excellent Jim! Love the skipper. But where are Nightingales pictures of her garden. Yes Nightingale, I'm talking to you. Share with the class :D.

Outstanding set PF. What lens were you using?

You folks are too nice!! Not a complaint to be seen. Hmmm!!

Harry, the macros were the 180 Tamron, which I have rec'd here on dgrin frequentlly. It is slow to focus ( as are all the long macros I've used ) but nice and sharp and contrasty.

The heron was shot with that infamous, lesser quality Tamron SP200-500 Di (IF) lens. It is not L glass, but it is really light and easy to carry around, and although I have been told this lens suffers from CA, I'll be darned if I can find it in my images shot with it.

A tripod is really necessary though - it is too long ( optically speaking) to shoot handheld, like I did for these herons.:):

Nice series - really like the lower left green heron. I've seen a few of those in central Minnesota but never been able to get close enough.

That is the first green heron I have seen in the wild here in Indiana.

I found it in a pond behind a local middle school. I will try and get back there and do a better job of capturing it again this week if time permits.

Here's my attempt at a damselfly...
