Bridge batch renaming has eaten my files

So I wanted to be on the ball.

Renaming my files. getting stream lined. getting organised.

I had my first try at batch renaming the other day. it worked well but the names we not a standard I can intergrate in the future.

e.g yyyy/mm/dd > camera type> specific number

so I thought "why not do it again"

BUT THIS TIME IT ALL WENT NUTS:

a) It has changed my file type from file CR2 to File.
b) the size seems to have changed from 7.50MB to 7,770KB
c) I cannot open the file in photoshop nor can I double click in bridge to open in ACR - though it will open in ACR if I use file >open, but still then it won't open in PSCS2.

I am completely non-plus, stressed and disappointed. I had previously taken off some canon utilities for my camera (was trying to clean up my 'puter) but this was before my first name changes which went fine.

do I have a bug? oh boo hoo boo hoo woe is me!

Seems daft to me that it cannot figure that one out itself...still I can hardly tie my own shoes as you've probably gathered.

O.k. going to stop monopolosing your time with file questions, traumas, obsessions.

BUT I will be very disappointed if I have to go and either re-name everything again or add the .cr2 to each shot- I will tell you how that went.

...........I thought I was the only one of the species left. the rest wiped out by the advent of casio calculator watches, a hurdle to high.

I threw in the towel and bought downloder pro for naming files and batch. so I never bothered going further into this.

Downloader pro is the business!
