I'm going to get 3 lenses with my 20d. 17-40L, 70-200 2.8L IS, and one of the following:
135 2 L
or
85 1.8
I need one of these for gymnastics shooting. I will be pretty close to the gymnasts I'm sure, but which would YOU suggest getting? the 1.8 is a tad faster but the 135 is a tad slower but has a longer reach. I'm stumped.

I saw a nice review of the 85 f1.2, the 85 f1.8 and the 135 f2 and their use for shooting gymnastics on line some where but I don't remember - googling might turn it up. I can't seem to find it tonight.
The 85 f1.8 is about half the price of the 135 f2. The 85 f1.8 won't be tack sharp at f1.8( the 135 will be tack sharp wide open but with shallow DOF), but sharpens up nicely by f2.5 It also focuses quite a bit faster than the 85 f1.2. This is a question that has been discussed on Photo.net and PhotoSig and several times.
