Anyone Use Dual Monitors...

If so how do you set up your work station? I'm looking to set up two 19'' CRTs. Having a hard time finding a good desk with space for two monitors (without braking the bank). Maybe someone could post a picture?

Two 20" LCDs and one 21" CRT. But we have custom built wide/deep desks with large returns, they probably were expensive..

I'd check Salvation Army stores, sometimes they have very nice large desks for like $30..$50.

my setup is 3 21" LCD Samsung.
with this setup i find it very convenient to have a "corner desk" - i dont know how to describe it but imagine it's like you have 2 desks putting together, perpendicularly.
this is very convenient because the distances from all 3 LCDs to me are the same, and by just turning my head, i can always look straight at them, not at an angle.

PS: actually, google for "corner desk" and you'll see many results

I've been able to pull this off on any table. Trick is usually to pull the desk/table away from the wall a bit...allow the cables and back of the CRTs to hang over there. The amount you pull away from the wall is what you'll gain in front of you. Also, don't be constrained to place the exactly next to eachother...might allow you to place each in their respective corners.

Thanks Fred, the pictures really helped. I've seen display setups, just wanted to see how the real world did it. Found a corner desk at staples for like $150 that should fit my needs. :thumb

Well this is the best pic i could find of my wifes setup. That is a 30" apple display and a 23" HP display. The desk cost us around 179.00

would it be better off to get a dual 23" ACD than a 30" one? is the 30" that much bigger/larger than the 23"? the prices are almost the same

It depends on what you mean by bigger/larger. According to the specs on Apple's site:

One 30" is 2560 x 1600 pixels (3.8 megapixels) at 27.1 inches wide by 21.3 inches tall for $1999.

Two 23" displays would equal 3840 x 1200 pixels (4.6 megapixels) at 42.2 inches wide by 17.7 inches high for $1998. They might not match color exactly unless you calibrate them, and you'll need two free video ports, two video cables and two power outlets.

So it depends on how much desk space and infrastructure you have and whether 1200 pixels tall is enough.

yeah that's exactly what i'm thinking.
with the 30" you have 400 extra height but 1200 less width. not sure about others but for me i dont see any benefit from that 400 extra height. i've been woking on a dual 21" setup (3200x1200) for almost 4 years, and i dont usually use up all that 1200 pixel height. the only time i use it is when editing images in full screen. it's just too broad for the eyes to cover. however it is no problem with the width. in fact i actually have an extra LCD resolutioned 1024x768 and all i have to do is mearly turn my head to see everything.

oh and the 30" is actually more expensive because to use it you'll have to spend $200 to buy a second video card

I built a corner desk out of some plywood and 2x4's. Mine actually attaches to the wall. Having the corner space allows alot of rear room for my 2 CRTs big butts and still have a good bit of room for everything else.

I am trying to talk the wife into a dual setup... I can get a Samsung 204B for $150, because my CRT from them puked. I have 1 204B already, so.... It sounds like an ideal setup to me!
