While this is not a terrible example of the genre, there is very little to distinguish it from the thousand's, nay, hundreds of thousands of long exposure, light on highway shots. All one needs is a camera, tripod, a place to stand and no originality for one of these. Go thee and do something original.

Yes, these are done often but we all seem to do them. In fact if you look long enough there is not much left that someone has not done before I think each one of these are different, just like sunsets. I think finding spots that have more red (tail lights) and less white (headlights) seem to make them work better.

A tough picture to whip... I hate to agree with the previous posters...
Okay, so let's analyse this picture freshly..
I think the red lights are too intrusive, because I like the headlights part :D There should be more light in the picture :D Th s-curve is kinda cool! What strikes me is the low angle at which this appears to have been taken.
Lots of people have taken this kind of picture, that is true... Tell me, what did you want to achieve with this photo?

It needs more than light blurs to make it interesting. Those lights need context. The S curve is neat, but not assertive enough. We can't see anything other than the car lights, and alone they're not enough to hould our interest.
This is just like shooting a good lightning piccie. The lightning alone isn't enough. You have to put it into an interesting context, like a city or a nice piece of landscape.
It really helps to make your shot while there's still light in the sky.
