Nikon d70s pop up flash won't go down

Can you give a better description of the problem? Are you saying you can push it down but it won't stay? Is this a new problem?

This is probably not your issue, but do you know that the flash pops up automatically in Auto exposure mode and it won't go down if the camera thinks flash is needed? Switch to Program, Aperture, Shutter or Manual mode and the flash won't pop up automatically.
