How is display size determined?

I notced that the default display size for the "medium setting" is different for different images that I am uploading. Is this set as a percentage size of the orginal? Is there a way to set this size to a certian limit? I would like to be able to alow right-click downloads for some of my galleries, but I don't want to give away too much....

Hi videoopp, thanks for posting.

Medium is up to 600px wide and up to 450px tall, and the actual will depend on the ratio of your uploaded image.
