poses for male seniors??

I have a shoot set up for a young mans senior portraits. I have shoot alot of women seniors but I realized that I have never shot a man before. Do any of you know of a site or gallery that I could check out that shows some good poses for young men. Some of these will be done with his car so I have those figured out as I have done women with their cars. I have shot men for family shots and execs for their company portraits but this is a bit different. I sent a private email to a fellow dgrinner that does alot of seniors but I am also interested in others input. I look forward to seeing some of your responses and viewing some links if possible.

You could always go to smugmug home page and do a search on: senior portraits. I always do that for looking at others photos/getting ideas.

One other thing.. you might want to change your topic.. I thought you meant senior citizen and not senior high-school You might be missing some advice from people misinterpreting your subject line like I did.

Thanks for the advice, I went ahead and changed the topic so more will know that I am looking for High School Senior Poses and not Senior Citizen Poses.

Thanks so much photofreak, great shots on your website! Nice of you to share them with me. I am getting some great ideas from on the help I am getting here on Smugmug / Dgrin. I just love the people here, very nice to interact with such a great group. I have used alot of forums over the years and so far I have to say that this is the best group of members I have ever interacted with. Very mature and professional folks it seems. A true pleasure to post and read others posts and replies, very encouraging and helpful.

I don't think this is "girly" at all. But the main question is this: do you like the picture and does it reflect your personality? This is what is important. If other people don't like the photo, don't give them copies. I like it, and I have used this pose (or one similar to it) with both guys and girls.

And having the body turned a bit more directly toward the camera would make it a bit less "shy" looking. Maybe it's not "girly" but it's certainly not "strong."

While obviously it's instructive to see what others are doing in the genre, I don't think you need restrict yourself to that. I don't think poses/compositions are necessarily watertight genre-linked. There are tons of images of males to be seen, any of these ideas could be used as a starting point for a male highschool senior. My impression is that, as a generalisation, the USA style of older teen portraits has a strong Hollywood/TV cliche component - cutesy, flirty, with attitude - as much in the case of boys as girls. It's clear that everyone involved in the photo is trying hard to pay dues to a media stereotype.

That's not everyone in the great USA, though, and I think among Dgrinners, Charles (Hackbone) has done male HS seniors stuff which is individualistic, interesting and superb quality. Check him out -
