He won't be able to blend in very well with those bright colors. Maybe he actually specializes in blue and yellow flowers. :D

He is quite a bug, the colors are amazing.
Too bad about that incredibly bright spot above him.

Just fooling around with a sharpening technique I read about. What do you think, too much?

yes, a little too much sharpeing, there are halos and artifacts in a few places.
The mask around the antenna needs a little work yet too. Did you bump the staturation up as well?
It looks better without the bright spot I think. It still needs a little work but you are on the right track.

yep, I did the masking very quickly, and the cloning too. I was really just trying out the action on the grasshopper's spots. And yes, I did boost the sat by copying the layer and making it overlay at 67% or so.
The sharpening "trick" that I read was 500%, .1, .1. Then you play with the second number in small increments until the image pops. This was a suggested technique for a final step before posting to the web only, not for printing. I'm not convinved totally, but it did do a nice job on the bug itself.
