I am a professional photographer, and just signed up for a professional account with Smug Mug. I have zero experience in developing a website, I look at the sites on smug mug and can only drool. Can someone help?

Here are my questions...

1. Approximately how long can I expect a decent website, (not extremely flash website) take to create.

2. What is HTML? Is this a computer language I need to learn?

Some things I am lookiing for in my site....

1. I would like a custom domain name (which I have already registered). How do I have people access this name?

2. I would also like a nice bold and colorful Header, Banner, Title (I'm not sure what to call it) at the top of my home page. It would read "Wild Earth Illuminations", which is also my domain name.

3. Last question for now. How do I manipulate the text elements font style, font size, color and position thoughout my site, specifically in the galleries and home page.

I know probably most of what I am asking is in the help section, I am just feeling overwhelmed flipping through page after page of info that seems to be written in greek.

2. What is HTML? Is this a computer language I need to learn?

It's how text and stuff is shown on the web. No, you don't need to learn it, you must learn to copy and paste though :D

Sure. You can have a text banner or a graphic banner. Start here in my "so you're a n00b thread":
http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=31647 follow the instructions on making a header. You can start with a text header and then as you get time, make a graphic banner, and then we'll help you set that up.

Read the n00b thread. Get familiar with the resources. Have a look at Customizing for Dummies. Then, when you want to change a specific thing, like a font style and color for the captions, as an example - ask the quesiton and any of us can help you. Always be VERY specific with your questions and we'll be very detailed with our answers. ALWAYS give us your site name.
