Climbing The Grand Teton

We came into the area on July 3rd and Camped on the peak itself on the 4th. In the morning we woke up ate about 1 pop tart and headed up the peak. We had ropes and harnesses but just didn't much feel like using them or our climbing shoes. Ahh its a great life.

John bouldering around. We camped here for about 2 hours and then said the heck with it and hiked up to the lower saddle to camp.

Excellent images of someplace most of us won't get to. Thanks. Is the teton climb a "walk-up" or scramble, or do you use ropes, etc.? Looked like you had climbing gear in the summit image.

I climbed Grand Teton a few years ago. Thanks for sharing these shots, you really captured the beauty.

How about the wind blowing up the mountain when you're, uh, sitting in that box?

arroyoshark : It is normally considered a climb from any angle. The climb was only rated about 5.6 at its highest that we ascended and although we had ropes we never used them. Or our climbing shoes for that matter. It was a onsight free-solo in our street shoes in the rain. ;) Quite fun.

I don't recall the name of the route, but it was the less-technical, much colder route, I remember that much. I went with 7 other women and we went with Exum Mountain Guides. It was so great, one of the best experiences of my life. I'll never forget it. I live a sea-level, so the altitude was quite an adjustment, to say the least. I'd love to do it again.

Here we all are at the top. I'm the furthest to the left. One of our guides is taking the picture, and other is bottom-left. This was shot BC (before Canon) with a Sony P&S. We taped our names to our helmets so the guides could remember our names, like little kids in youth hockey.

Wow, I'm jealous. :wink Looks like an awesome time. I think I could live in the Tetons in the summer. :lust I had a chance to visit there for 3 days, and it sure was hard to leave. Everything there is beautiful. I bet it was cold up there on the tops of the mountains. Hee hee.
