I think this belongs in Wildlife forum, not Journeys unless 'flug has lots more to post...

Getting this close to an elk suggests that it is defending its territory - not a good fight to get into, my money would be on the elk!!

time is fleeting.

quick synopsis

left NY with car/trailer/motorcycle friday 6/23/06 and drove 1900 milesto colorado and arrived on sunday 6/25/06 in estes park right outside of rocky mt. national. stayed two nights. headed south to Buena Vista Co for a gathering. BV is 8500 feet 100 miles west of CO. Springs. stayed 5 nights. Did Pikes Peak on Monday the 3rd of july along with Garden of the Gods. Business on the 4th and eturned home by Friday the 7th.

Of the 3 or 4 bull elks in this group in Rocky Mt. National this was the big daddy. Walking very slow oblivious to the human element. I kept my distance on this one...
