I am getting the front of the bike tac sharp but the rear is clearly OOF (movement) At f5 i would have expected the whole bike to have panned sharp :scratch Is this just the rear of the bike moving at a diff angle ie a bit of a slide happening thus blurring the shot ?
Only thing I can figure as well. However, when I do long shutter pans like that I normallly end up with much smalller apertures than f/5, such as f/11 to f/14. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Remember, with a long shutter and a panning motion you can have infinite DOF and still have a blurred background. So my belief either it is moving at different angle, or its still too shallow DOF at f/5.

As I look at the image Gus, the right and left side of the the front cowling all seem sharp, as does the front wheel.
That suggests to me that the DOF is adequate for the rear of the bike, and I tend to agree that the rear of the bike may have some motion away from the shooter due to sliding slightly, while the front wheel does not move in a for and aft direction, only to the shooter's right.
But a smaller aperture would not hurt either.
gus its worth considering bumping up the iso to maintain shutter speed at smaller apertures to maintain and increase DOF,rather than slow shutter speeds.
a little bit of iso 400 grain is much less less obtrusive and distracting than motion blur....
