It was a nice end to our last day at Pismo Beach, CA.
We were lucky to catch the sun considering all the rainy weather in the area.

Setup for a sunset shot and then just waited for the some birds to come into the scene.

The pelicans did a great job co-operating :-)

Very nice colors, nice shot.

I think I would crop a bit of the dark area from the bottom to bring it into the infamous rule of thirds.

Thanks Greaper . . .

Never really heard about the infamous rule of thirds . . . :-) . . . but of course I would understand that to reflect on equal balance throughout the picture. Will try your suggestion and see how it looks.

Nice galleries you have btw . . .

Before you can get away with breaking the rules, you need to know the rules, so they say.

I agree with Greaps about cropping off a wee bit of the black bottom. But I'd be proud to have that shot to my name. Lovely.

Thanks again Greaper and thanks Sid . . . just tried a couple of crops:

This one I cropped out some of sky and some of the beach:

And this one I cropped out just some of the beach:

Slight difference on both.

Thanks again, the comments do help.

I like the third one best. They are all great, a shot to be proud of. I think the third one is just more pleasing to my eye, maybe thats why they made it a rule?

Thanks . . . :-)

I will be sure to read up on some more rules http://www.digitalgrin.com/images/smilies/deal.gif . . . since in this case, it did make the picture more balanced . . .

Appreciate the feedback. http://www.digitalgrin.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

These are all great shots. But I do think the third one is my favorite.

Peter, I have been enjoying all of your landscapes. I'm a landscape person too. I like that one with the chair on the beach with no one sitting in it. The composition is so great. And the chair calls to me. This is a very cool sunset too. Love the birds. :thumb

Thanks Ian and Snappy :-) < - - - still looking for a simply smilie :-)

Waited for a long for birds to come into the scene just the right way Snappy. I was quite happy when I saw the string of them gliding towards the sunset and into the camera frame :-)
