.........shot at almost 9pm, standing on my back porch with (thank god) my nice new, heavy duty tripod and canon 100-400 L....there were at least two. next time i will try to get out there a little earlier when the light is really gorgeous

A nice start. I have found that using a flash is a great help. It helps freeze some of the motion. I would definitely try and get in closer – I was somewhat surprised to see you were at 400mm. This shot was at 300mm,Manual,1/500, F/11. Without the flash he would have been blurred. This little fellow was playing hide-and-seek, every time I was about to take his picture he went behing the house trim.

harry, i can't believe you don't have any in all your shooting. i NEVER thought i would ever shoot one, but i hung the feeder up just for fun, and son of a gun they showed up :):
