I'm just seeing red 'x's for some reason. But that happens sometimes for me ... ?

clarification:
i received a pm from littlelew expressing concern that some of you would refrain from being honest with your critiques because these photos are of my son. when i said be gentle, i did not mean to discourage your critique. i was trying to be a bit playful and now i see that it may have come across differently. on the contrary, i would appreciate honest critique and comments about these photos, so sock it to me.

Hey Glowbelly!
Welcome to Dgrin!
Love the black and white shots of the little cub!
Only suggestion, and this is only my opinion remember:
#1: I prefer to have the eyes in focus, unless you are going for the focus to be on the hands, and then the dof needs to be a lot more so that it is more obviously a photograph of the little dudes hands rather than his face? IYKWIM?
#2: What a cracker! Would've loved to see it in portrait orientation rather than landscape, just seems to cut off a little too much of the forehead. But what a great expression! Priceless!

thanks everyone for your comments :D
kate,
i agree with your critiques. the first shot was a lot softer out of camera and i worked a lot to get those eyes back as much as possible. i wish that i had taken more at the time, but i didn't, so i worked with what i had. :)
the second is another story. i've had so many differing opinions on that head crop. some people like it, as they think it shows movement and the baby's curiousity. others dislike it for reasons you mentioned. it was my biggest gripe about that photo, but i didn't have any others where those eyes popped out at me like that one did.
thanks again!
