So for the record . . . . I've got NO green on my thumb and cannot keep gardenia's alive for the life of me. But I actually got a bloom on this plant and thought it worthy of my time and effort. At least I have documentation that one blossom flowered. (Natural light, 100mm macro)

And so I have - it's in a set I've done for my Mom for her birthday (86!) tomorrow.

Lovely. Is it a Gardenia? They smell so beautiful in the heat of day. Mine are about done blooming now.

Yep, it's a gardenia. I just love them -- but have no success at keeping them alive, so it was cause for celebration to get one bloom!

I actually had a gardenia live for awhile, years ago when we lived back east. A couple of years ago omeone gave my daughter a beautiful one, and it almost died. She gave it to me and I left in on my porch for 6 months and it started showing green again, but then we moved, and I think I've killed it forever now. It's still in a pot on the deck. I should check it and see if it's really dead or not. I'd like to get another but I think I lost my green thumb.

I can only imagine how pleased and happy you were to see yours open and bloom! And such a beautiful photo of it too! Congrats.
