Hello,

My domain www.fardistantshores.com (http://www.fardistantshores.com) is hosted with www.directnic.com (http://www.directnic.com)

In order for it to point to http://georgivs.smugmug.com I need to set up my Directnic account with the names of your DNS servers.

I assume they will be something like ns1.smugmug.com & ns2.smugmug.com

However, I can't find any reference to the actual names of your DNS servers anywhere on the smugmug site.

Please confirm.

Regards,

George Cruickshank

Smugmug does this by asking you to set up a cname redirect.
Only pro accounts can do this. There are instructions in the help section.

Hi George, that's not the way we actually do it. We do CNAMEs, not pointing. Please read this section and let us know if you have any questions:

This seems a little unusual.

I have no idea what a cname is, and directnic makes no mention of it on their site. I've been hosting domains with them for years and this has never been a problem before.

We promise that It's not unusual at all :) Please write to directnic and ask them, they've done it for other SmugMug customers.

I've done so Andy.

I just hope they respond this century. My past experiences of their customer service is that it operates at a pace best described as glacial :-)
