Hi everyone

Here are some pics I shot sunday before memorial day. We went out whale watching, leaving from Boston, near the aquarium.

The tour was almost 90 minutes longer than scheduled (totally 4 and a half hour instead of 3) because the boat had a hard time finding the whales. But when it did, we saw lots of them.

I took my D200 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens, all shots were hand-held. It was a little tricky to get some good shots, 'cause the boat was full of people and the waves rocked the boat (VR came in handy). Here are three pics from the whale-watching gallery (http://www.streetsofboston.com/gallery/1517269):

(you know that humpbacks need about 1,000,000 calories a day....? now, that's a lot of cheesecake! :D)

Comments are welcome :)

WOW -- don't see many of those in Texas! :D Looks like a beautiful day and you did a nice job. Love the gulls in the shots, too - sure gives a sense of scale!

not in UK either. Not even in the North Sea!
Lovely scenes, and how nice that they can meet people and live to tell the tale. Wonderful shots!

Awesome shots. I've never seen a whale in the wild. I have heard them (at night) but never seen them. You did great handholding the lens, on a rocking boat nonetheless. These look very sharp.

Incredible shots. I would almost think a tripod would do more harm than good on a boat (unless it was gyroscopically stabilized or something...).

Terrific shots. :clap Having shot from a boat I know how difficult it is.

That looks like a fun afternoon. I especially like the last, good detail, and able to see right into his/her mouth. Excellent post.
