no one's replying? alright... I really like this shot, I think it is what you were going for and... ah, it's tight

but I'll force myself to two criticisms: one, i can see the levels of gradation as the bright spot behind her head approaches the darkness. two, the seemingly obligatory crop critique, that you could take a little off the top and bring more focus to her face (just a little off the top of her head)

nice work my man :thumb... maybe others will have more to say

peace,
LeDude

ledude! you are lebest!-

thanks much for your c&c-

I was looking at this when I finished and I wondered, 'what the heck are those lines in the background?'-

she was sitting on a hardwood floor when I took the pic-

this was a very difficult photo to work with, but I enjoyed the work and am proud of this-

I'm used to working with raw and this was a jpeg off a cd, not as much leeway to work with as I'm used to-

the rules done change-ed, so i dunno... but it's an impressive save now too

just to be clear, I wasn't referring to the light/dark stripes before, but rather the 'banding' in the gradation from light to dark in the halo-like deal emanating from, basically, her head... I say this because you said flooring, and while I see that too, I don't see that as a problem.

damn, that was really the original? and jpg to start... good grief, you're tossin better than Papelborn

hi George, I like the picture (nice job on the PP, by the way:thumb). My only real nit is that it seems over-sharpened, especially by the hair over her eye.

cheers,

C.

I didn't read everyone else's comments, but here's mine... I think you could use a very slight crop all around, except on the left, which could use some more to take the arm away. Also, the change from light to dark in the background seems too square and possibly as a consequence, fake, try to smoothen it out with the burn tool... still a great shot tough :)

too much obivous burning in ... it is okay to blend in the hair (top) into a black background. That way you eliminate the halo effect (but then again maybe that truly is her halo). And add some burn to the lower left cheek, nose and chin. Since you cropped off the arm ... mmmh try cropping off the top of her head mmmmhhh about 1/3 up from her forehead ... that way all the cropping looks intential. Just my $.02. hey ... if you want to really get into PS.... burn/darken the entire background and arm leaving only her face and neck with detail.

thank you both-

great pointers-

am going to try to rework this on the weekend-

will probably start from scratch again for the third time? fourth time?-

no effort too much when you're ocd-

and no photo unsalvageable-

damn... is that the same shot? very pleasing... i'd liked the edgy-ness of the first one, but this is probably a "better" photo now
