Troy,

Thank you very much. You know, I look at your images and think the same thing. In fact, I often hesitate to post my images because I don't feel they're at the standard that you and a few others set on this site. You sir, have made my morning.

And yes, they were all shot with my only telephoto, the 100-400L.

Best regards,
-joel

Really nice stuff. :thumb:thumb

The Bluejay is beautiful and I love the eye on that mockingbird. The woodpecker is very good also, but I would of cropped it a little higher to give his beak and head a little more room.

Outstanding shots Joel. Why is the woodpecker called red -bellied when the red is everywhere but the belly?:scratch :D

Thanks, Khaos! I agree about the woodpecker shot. Unfortunately, I did a poor job of framing and didn't leave much headroom. Maybe I'll just add some with Photoshop. :wink

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you, Harry!

I wondered about the red belly too. If you look really carefully at his lower belly, way down, almost between his legs, you can see kind of a red area. I wonder if that's it? :scratch

Great comp, color and especially backgrounds on these Joel. The light hitting the mockingbirds eye really sets it apart from the other shots.

Absolutely outstanding images! The bluejay is my fav of the group but man I wish I had the opportunity to capture songbirds and such around here!

My feathered friends are more of the shorebird variety, turns, oyster catchers, etc.

Thank you for sharing these, they really are inspiriing!

Thanks, Markjay. Very kind. I drool over all those fantastic shore birds that you folks are posting from Fla. I guess the grass is always greener, eh? :giggle

Thanks Wolfies, but you're way too kind. I looked at your gallery, and can't touch half the stuff you do. That owl portrait is to die for.
