Went out yesterday to shoot the osprey nest and the chicks. Figured it was about time they were flying. Yep!!! The chicks are flying. Well 2 of the 3 are anyway.

Snapped almost 3 gigs of osprey shots and spent the majority of the day following them around in an itty bitty aluminum row boat with an electric trolling motor. <remembers the laughing gulls poking fun at him> I now know first hand what that saying "slow boat to China" is all about. :rofl Had to remove the "real" boat as the canals are being dredged. Might be several months for completion.

I've got tons of shots to PP..but thought I'd share just a couple to keep the whistle wet..as they say. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for following this adventure of mine. It's been over a month of tracking and shooting these birds. It's been a wonderful experience and presented lots of shooting ops. Really wish I had noticed the births from the start. I feel I was a couple weeks late on this. Maybe next year. :wxwax

(note the typical white outlined feather details of the juvenile osprey)

Thanks Harry. Nice of you to say. Glad you are enjoying the "adventure" that I've been shooting. It has been a weonderful experience. I feel fortunate that I have such a "target rich" environment down here. To have several osprey nests in the "neighborhood" is most excellent. :D :D :D :D

Cheers

Wonderful shots Mike. Being lucky enough to have the osprey nests so close is one thing, but being skilled enough to capture them like this is quite another .

Now please send us back our @#$%^&!!! ospreys please:grim

Thanks,
jeff

Many thanks, Jeff. Awful nice of you to say. I'll be the first to admit wildlife shooting involves a bit O' luck. :uhoh :D You have to be a little lucky the animals don't eat you....so you can return with your photos. :rofl

:agree We haven't seen any ospreys around here in months.
Anyway, at least we get to enjoy them through your effort.

Wonderful, Birdman, just such a special experience.........I did it with the egrets last year!

Took me longer. The juvies seemed to hang around for months.

ginger

Actually I did it with the Osprey nest last year, too. But my photos weren't as good. In my defense, my photo ops were not as good either, but I also was not as diligent as you have been.

Love those youngsters with their first "flying License".

Thanks Ginger. It has been quite a trip (more ways than one) shooting these osprey. I was planning on heading back out to the nests this morning/afternoon......but thunderstorms approaching. :cry Tomorrow is suppose to be windy (choppy bays/waterways) so I'll probably not get out then..either. I can pretty much forget the weekends. Tood darn many people/boats to try shooting. Hmmmm this is getting more difficult. :wxwax
