i think this is beautiful it needs a white horse running on road

i don't think you went overboard... but i think the white on the grass is distracting and it pulls your eyes away from the road... if you could clone it out it would make the image heaps better:thumb i think Awais is onto something... what you need is an Amish carriage about halway disappearing through the fog on the road... that'd be killer.

Well, it's the blue ridge parkway with a 45mph speed limit. If you find an Amish buggy that can do that..... I'm in. :):

The white in the grass is a gravel road going into the orchard there. I'll see if I can tone it down a bit.

Stumbled across a neat plug in. Can't remember the settings I used in the plug in, but it took a few tries with leveling/USM before the effect was applied to get the right look in the end. Sort of a "feel it out" deal.

Thank you ALL for the kind words :thumb

Ps-Yvette, there's plenty of room here :thumb (allthough - WHY you'd want to leave wyoming I don't understand!:D)

I really like Vivida - have had it a while, still kind of fumbly for me to use though.

I'll download and play with Deep Paint. Thank ya. :thumb

You blew out the sky, and the shot is overall too yellow.

Did you shoot RAW? You could perhaps pull out some of the sky if you did, with a two-pass processing. In any case, it is totally blown out, and that's not good, IMO. Ideally you would have some detail in there, but even if you don't, make some, or at least add some gray.

I'm split on the gravel road, but I think I come down on the side of clone it out.

EDIT: I forgot to say: It's got a peaceful, easy feeling (a la The Eagles), and I enjoy looking at it. Even though it's got nothing but a road curving off in the distance, it's perty.

The sky was actually not blown out before I ran the plugin. I didn't really mind the fact that afterwords the sky went south, but, I'll toy with getting some texture in there. I'll probably just drop down the level of highlights before running it. But, I'll fool with it a while.

Most everyone I've shown this to didn't like the gravel. It's gonna go.

Thanks for the edit - that's the magic of living here. NC has alot of that simplistic beauty.

Edit of my own: I am going to print it and take a look at it under some different lighting before I decide if I want to loose the yellow tint.

This scene has the feeling, that no one has ever treaded there. Like, the road was put in its place, but never travelled on. Very, very peaceful. My wife and I almost moved to Ashville, NC. What a beautiful place to be. We ultimately settled down in Leelanau County, MI. (another area with surreal landscapes).

I am glad that you are going to get rid of that gravel road. it's what keeps it from being a truly hallmark image. Another thing that I'd play with (but it doesn't detract), would be to complete the mist, so that it trails all along the ridge of trees, in the farground (is that a word?:scratch).

Sorry, one more thought; if the image became too yellow, due to your trying to make the painted lines in the road stand out, try selecting just the painted lines, then adjust your yellow saturation.

Thanks for sharing...

It looks similar to the tech. of guassian blur overlay as described by M Reichmann: http://luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/gaussian.shtml
