I do not understand why the 20 D makes Directories in the CF and places all the pictures in one of them.
It is always the same:
1. I erase all the pictures from the CF.
2. I shoot connecting the camera once.
3. The camera makes 16 directories ( .. 168CANON; 169CANON ... ) and places all the photos on the last one.

It should create a single directory and drop the files in that one. Occassionally, it will create more than one and split them between
directories.

How is your camera set up to do directories? You can find that info in
the menu.

Yeah, that's annoying. You can avoid that problem by reformatting the CF card after you erase the pics. It's on the menu there somewhere and just takes a moment.

Between the post from ian and yours I've been reading the f... manual but I found NOTHING.
Now, I was moving to the garden and shooting to the right.
Made several shots and am on the computer analizing the thing.
I am going to format the CF. Thank you.
About the left and the right I'll tell later.

My 20D does the following:

Started at 100 Canon, moved to 101, 102, etc. Each folder contains 100 files. If shooting RAW, there will be 100 .CR2 files. If shooting RAW + JPEG, there will be 100 of each, IIRC. This is default behavior, because I haven't changed any relevant settings.

Are you saying that every time you clear the card, it puts the files in 169 or is it incrementing the folder number? Sounds like you've taken about 6900 pics with your 20D - is that right?

Once I erased the card in the computer after downloading. The 20 D continued to place the pictures in the 169 dir.
The second time - I am playing in the garden as you know - I erased in the camera. Then it created the 170 dir. I moved the photos to the computer.
And here is where I am now.
I am going to format the thing to see what happens.

I have fornated the card and it made a directory and placed the photos inside.
It's OK. Like rsinmadrid said the card must be formated not to create those stupid dir. :thumb
