Well, I'm still surprised I did it, but I bought a used 1DMkII. Eeeks! :O

There are so many settings to this camera. I'm going to reset to factory defaults, but I'm wanting some advice on what settings to use for amatuer motorsports (karts, motocross). Predominantly in how to setup AF points, focus tracking speeds, etc. Thanks!

I plan to shoot RAW until I get the hang of the in-camera JPG settings, but anything along those lines is also welcome.

Hi Bill!

Here's a publication that gives a lot of hints and tips for 1D cameras:

I shoot youth sports and use single AF with moderate-fast tracking. If I'm not mistaken, the tracking speed is the speed at which the camera changes subjects. In other words - if your panning and a post comes between you and your subject at the fastest setting the camera would jump focus to the post - at the slower setting the camera would ignore the post briefly to see it the original object comes back to the focus point.
