Bought this lens 2 months ago (2/13/06) and it is sharp and fast.

That being said, I have an associate who is selling his Canon 28-70L and I
would like to buy it.

I paid $385.00 with shipping. If you are interested I would sell it for
$300.00 shipped and Paypaled. Everything that came with in the original
box is included except the hole where I sent in for the rebate.

I don't shoot alot in lowlight but for the few times I do I have never had a problem with this lens. In fact this is my most used lens, it's on the camera probably 85% of the time.

This lens is sharp and pretty fast focusing. Not as fast as USM but plenty fast enough.

I think it performs as good as expected in low light. Everything could always be better, right? I am very please with how quick the AF is in low light. I don't find it ever "tracking" to focus.

For the price, I love how sharp this lens it. I use it to shoot all of my portraits. You will not be disappointed with this lens (in general, as I cannot speak specifically to this copy of it).

Pretty good, under most normal circumstances. I haven't had any problems shooting at night or indoors. On the other hand, I did some shooting in an acquarium last week and had to switch to manual focus because I sometimes couldn't get a lock. So it's not perfect.

I was a bit concerned about how the Tamron 28-75 would hold up on a recently purchased Canon 5D. It gave me fine service on both a 300D and 20D but I'd read about how a full-frame camera can really challenge lenses. In fact, I've been blown away by how well this little lens does on the 5D. Color, contrast, sharpness from edge to edge are excellent. The only drawback is the loss of length from having lost the cropping factor. I've been tempted to try the Tamron 24-135 f/3.5-5.6 as an alternative.

For the record I own some very fine Canon professional glass as well as some of their best consumer glass. I'm one of those folks, however, who sees no reason to pay a thousand dollars for the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L when I can get such wonderful performance from the Tamron for a third the price. It is one of the real steals available to the discerning buyer.
