Best place to practice is at the zoo.

The zoo is a great place to shoot animals. Tigers are great shooting subjects. You've done a nice job capturing this one......but I'm wondering why you didn't shoot this as a horizontal image? :dunno :scratch It doesn't fit the format very well IMO. The background doesn't seem to add anything to the picture and if that was the intent. Would have liked to see this as a horizontal image.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing more zoo shots. :thumb

Great shot of a awesome cat. I think some top and bottom cropping would help the pic.

Thank you for letting me know this. I am very inexperienced when it comes to composition and I hope to get better at it. I'm so use to the point and shoot quicksnap photo taking. I think my first P&S camera has grown some bad habits. Being aware of what's in the viewfinder and taking time to compose the shot is something I need to work on.

I'm not really sure why I made the shot portrait. After looking through the pictures, I saw about 8 that were horizontal and there was a pole to the left that kept showing up in the picture. Also, I was as far over as possible in the little area behind the glass.

The zoo will still be there and we are now members so we can go anytime for free!

Thank you ptlash!

I will try and get the nerve to post more pictures. Since I am new at this, I'm pretty timid. Especially around all these professionals on this board.
