I see it now.

It seems a little dark. Is that one of those crystal things from the ocean floor? You might tweak the white balance a bit?

I think it def looks better. This picture makes me curious. What's the whole piece looks like? I like the framming, but would prefer if the sphere wasn't chopped off at the top. Give it some room to breathe. Just a thought...but what do I know.

They are quarts crystals, and the dark one is citrine :D

You have asked for opinions ...It just isnt ringing my bell.

The title is, as always..is subjective but to me when asked for a 'longer' exposure i would perhaps choose a subject that shows time lapse. A simple explanation would be something like this showing the passing of time (http://wadjelaphotography.smugmug.com/photos/13803999-M.jpg).

Your crystal does not (to me) show a longer exposure. Its also quite out of focus or soft from a large crop :scratch .

Hi Gus,

I'm hoping to see shots that demonstrate a lapse of time, but I'm equally keen to see shots that use the available light too!
Plus, of course any other effects that long exposures can create, such as the misting of waves, mirror like reflections, painting with light, zoom blurs, motion blurs, flash, strobe flash, etc etc etc....1 second or over is the only restriction :thumb

I get the joke :rofl ..yeah that was a cat fight & a half. I dont enter many of the challenges & if i see someone asking then i will always offer my perception of what the judges are asking for. Really i dont care what they choose but we should never be afraid to offer someone help/ideas if they are asking for it.

The first shot was too dark as mentioned. The second post looks over processed and grainy to me. Did you reshoot or process the original?

Definitely a step in the right direction :thumb

There's still room for improvement though.

The bright highlights bother me. To me they overpower the rest of the image. What were you using as a light source? Is there any way you could diffuse the light?
The image still seems a bit noisy. I saw in the EXIF that you we already at ISO 80, so I'm not sure there's much you can do about it.
I'd like to see more of the image in focus. If you can, use a smaller aperture.I saw from the EXIF data that your using a Kodak C340. This is going to be a really tough challenge topic with a camera without manual controls.

Thank for your imput Cletus, I am just a beginner, but I am already looking forward to a better camera......but not to worry, I dont let my camera stop me :D

You know what Cletus, in a way, having the camera, sorta makes the challenges even more challenging.......and FUN......I think I found a way to soften the glare you are talking about, I did a reverse layer on it......and I think it looks better......but thats not to say I wont come up with an even better idea.........or mebbe somebody else will ......but I am certainly learning a lot, and having a lot of fun along the way :D
