I spent Easter with my Fiance's family. While visiting her grandfather the Easter Toad came to visit.

It was a suprise to see him. There is a hole in the ground near the foundation. It appears that he dug the hole to hibernate over the winter. Sunday was a pretty day and must have been time for him to get moving.

Yep the family thought I was nuts sprawled out on the ground taking pics of a toad. But, my fiance is a frog nut so they are used to it. I did end up having to pull a tick off my arm.

Nice pics, very expressive. I especially like the first--just toad and bokeh. Well done. :thumb

That face just reminds me of an old germudgin :lol
well done but be careful about the tick thing, pulling them off may not be the best idea, know what I mean ?? :uhoh

The tick had not attached yet. Luckily

He does have a cool face/look. Luckily he did not spook and hop off on me.

As for the bokeh, that is the foundation in the background. It is a concrete wall stained red from the famous Franklin County red mud. I was shooting macro and the toad is less than 3 inches from the wall. The DOF is very limited on this lens at that setting. I have some shots where his eyes are in focus but his nose and body are not. I played with the aperature settings a bit trying to get the DOF the way I liked.

I submitted the photos to a "Toad" site for identification. They tell me it is a Bufo Americanas and she is pregnant. :clap So we might have some more running around at the end of summer.
