Hi there,

If you click on each of the following links, you will notice at the bottom of the page, there is this black box with ………. Galleries. Any possibilities to hide this black box as well as the ` ……………. Galleries ‘ ??

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Portraits (http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Portraits)

`Portraits Galleries’

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Affairs%20in%20Asia (http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Affairs%20in%20Asia)

`Affairs in Asia Galleries’

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Best%20of%20Britain (http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Best%20of%20Britain)

`Best of Britain Galleries’

thanks !

Hi Nonilady,

A bigger problem is you've hidden our ©smugmug and footer - you are not allowed to do that. Fix that, and we can tackle the other stuff. Thanks!

Also your header image is probably stored in a gallery where you have external links turned off. You'll want to fix that so folks can see your header image.

hi andy,

on this page, right at the bottom of the page, there is

`powered by smugmug (http://www.smugmug.com/) portions © 2006 smugmug, inc.</SPAN></SPAN> '

if this is what you're referring ie the mini footer, i have not hidden it at all,,it is still there..in fact it is on the footer of every page.

my browser is IE, i wonder could that be the reason why I see what you dont see on my page?? :scratch

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/PortraitsIt shows up on my computer Andy, but i think something funky is going on with the footer code, it shows " <!-- BEGIN ROTATING POLL CODE 00521562P99 CODE -- Free Poll provided by www.addfreestats.com -->" aswell. Do you really want all that stuff at the bottom, nonilady?

Nonilady, there is a line of code in your footer that shows up like this for me: &lt;!-- BEGIN ROTATING POLL CODE 00521562P99 CODE -- Free Poll provided by www.addfreestats.com --&gt;Try changing it into <!-- BEGIN ROTATING POLL CODE 00521562P99 CODE -- Free Poll provided by www.addfreestats.com -->maybe just copy/paste it again, and see what happens, and let Andy have a look again.

1) safari sucks
2) i think Ivar hit the nail on the head. the malformed comments are causing problems.

thanks ivar, i didnt change it as mine is the same as the one you suggested which is the 2nd one. this is odd,,,i wonder why on your browser it appears as this

[code]&lt;!-- BEGIN ROTATING POLL CODE 00521562P99 CODE -- Free Poll provided by www.addfreestats.com --&gt;

ivar,all the stuff at the bottom, yeah in the meantime i still need them,,,i know they look like a junk/messing up the bottom. These are the reciprocal links that i have exchanged with others in the photo communities, am just not sure where else to put them, so the footer are the place for the time being.

If you want to keep all the stuff is really none of my business, but it just looks really awkward to me, taking up more space than the actual page. And it is alot more stuff to wade through looking for problems :D

hi ivar,
done the cut & Paste, how does it look on your browser? is it ok?

would you know whether it is possible for me to transfer some of the reciprocal links of the bottom page to the body part of the homepage, what i mean is, there is a gap on the left body of the homepage, i wonder whether i could transfer the `photography links' and the `POLL' links to the left side of the body so that it occupies the big white space there.

Look at a portion of my screengrab below. the "&lt;" and "&gt;" also represent a "<" and a ">" symbol, but should not be used as such in code.
Left you can see how it is written, and right you can see how it shows.

On the right side, you can also see, that the 2nd blue underlined comment looks different than the first blue underlined comment, it should have shown up green/italic aswell. It does that, because it doesn't understand the "&gt:" and "&lt;" in some browsers.

Try removing for the whole comment, or manually writing it, maybe that works.

Can you remove the poll? or are you required to, by statcounter? If so, i would think of changing statistics provider. If you can remove the whole poll, it would look totally different already.

hi ivar,

i have removed the poll as it is not required by stats counter. does it still give you any problem on your browser??
thanks :):

if i am being too impatient, tell me to be patient. :1drink

andy, for the banner for the header, i have switched on the external link of the gallery as per request.

hi ivar,

tried that. it works well for the three links as follows, this means if I click on any of the following links, yes, the black box and the text `............ galleries' are gone which is great!! but.....

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Portraits (http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Portraits)

`Portraits Galleries’

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Affairs%20in%20Asia (http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Affairs%20in%20Asia)

`Affairs in Asia Galleries’

http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Best%20of%20Britain (http://photowardrobe.smugmug.com/Best%20of%20Britain)

but, if you proceed from any of the above links and click on any of the galleries, i cant see any of my galleries :(:

Ivar, don't forget that the subcategory pages are classed with both the word category and subcategory.

Ivar, don't forget that the subcategory pages are classed with both the word category and subcategory.Hmmm, very true....

Okay, so how about this?

.category_Best_of_Britain #galleriesBox,
.category_Portraits #galleriesBox,
.category_Affairs_in_Asia #galleriesBox,
{
display: none;
}

.subcategory #galleriesBox {
display: block;
}

That way you will not have problems either when you create a gallery without a sub-category.

Agree Mike? or am i making things more difficult than they have to be?

thanksHmmm, i see i have made slight error on the galleriesBox thing, i left a comma too much in there, the red comma, remove that, and it will work.
.category_Best_of_Britain #galleriesBox,
.category_Portraits #galleriesBox,
.category_Affairs_in_Asia #galleriesBox,
{
display: none;
}

.subcategory #galleriesBox {
display: block;
} I'll take a look at the other one in a second...

Oh, don't forget, if you ever create an extra Category, add it to the list, ie: .category_Extra_category #gallerisBox,
.category_Best_of_Britain #galleriesBox,
.category_Portraits #galleriesBox,
.category_Affairs_in_Asia #galleriesBox
{
display: none;
}

.subcategory #galleriesBox {

Just make sure that the subcategory stuff always comes after the category stuff. That's important. Do it the other way and it won't work.

I think this thread covers something I was wondering (but to be honest, I'm a wee bit ignorant when it comes to CSS)

Anyway, on my smugmug page, I want to remove the part circled in red, so I put this in my CSS:

.category_Portraits #galleriesBox,
{ display: none; }

.subcategory #galleriesBox { display: block; }

But it didn't work. Any tips? Or is there another thread I should examine?

You are getting close. The red part is saying to remove the whole box from your Portraits category, but it doesn't work because of the comma after "#galleriesBox".

The green part is saying to display the galleriesBox in all subcategory pages, so it doesn't have any effect as is really.

try this:.category_Portraits #galleriesBox .boxTop {
display: none;
}
