The lighting was tricky in this indoor ring. There were skylights that lit some spots nicely while other spots were rather dark. Also this was really the only spot from which I could shoot, so the angles I was able to get were not always perfect. Regardless I am pleased with the results, as are the clients. Taken with the Canon 20D and 70-200 f2.8L........Thanks for looking.

John, these are wonderful. I can see why your clients are pleased. Very good shots in some tough lighting conditions.

Nice shots considering the usually awful lighting of the indoor rings. Too bad the riders do not have very good jump seats.

Ironhorse said too bad about the not so good jump seats. That is the whole point here, it is much more difficult to make novices look good - anyone can make an Olympic standard show jumper look good. With the smaller novice height jumps in these shots it is a real challenge for timing. Greener horses don't go forward as smoothly, so it's difficult to anticipate whether they will hesitate or charge.
