if that is true, it pretty well sucks big time. But at least it gives me another year to save up for an Intel Mac.

Adobe has said from the very beginning that there will be no universal binary version of CS2, that you'll have to wait for CS3. Here's ( http://blogs.adobe.com/scottbyer/2006/03/macintosh_and_t.html) an Adobe blog where they explain it some.

It still just seems a bit behind the ball of them to leave UB users hanging with Rosetta Stone for so long. I mean, Mac's are still the norm for most graphic and image work. I'm a nothing, but I'm thinkin' there's some grumbling out there in the pro world. Or maybe they're just happy using their G5 quads for a bit longer?

There are 'cool kids' and early adopters* ... and there are those who want to get their work done. The latter will wait.
1. determine your needs
2. find software that meets those needs
last. pick hardware/os that runs that software.
* yes, I've spent plenty of time in those camps and still wear those t-shirts to work.

True, but it was thought that CS3 would be released before the end of 2006. Adobe never actually gave us any concrete timeframe until now.

Must be tough being a software vendor this year. Apple switches to Intel and Vista is a moving target. Think I'll just concentrate on learning to shoot better pics. :lift

:dunno You are right. Adobe sure is taking its sweet ass time. Every other major pro app (along with a crapload of samller apps) will all be universal in just a couple months. There are already well over 1,000 apps right now. So, yeah. They will be the last ones by a long shot to get onboard.
I wonder if Apple is pressuring them to get it done sooner?? Right now would be a great time for some low level company to release a "photoshop-like" app thats universal to steal some market.

I think you're all way overboard with this. It's not coded in xcode, and Adobe doesn't have a version of xcode that handles an app of that size well. Also, don't forget that they have an entire suite to re-write and recompile. No small task. By the time they got it done, they'd be so close to CS3, what would be the point, really?
This (http://blogs.adobe.com/scottbyer/2006/03/macintosh_and_t.html) blog I posted earlier sums it up pretty well, IMO.

WTG Apple. That's funny. If it's true. I kinda doubt it. I mean, why would Adobe open it's doors to Apple?

it makes perfect sense to me, just bummed that i cant 1) upgrade my PC version of CS2 to a mac version of CS3 and 2) i cant benchmark my lappy against my desktop.
oh well, maybe i'll get cs3 when it comes out, or maybe i'll just continue to be more productive on my PC :D

i'll see if i can find the article where i read it, but it makes sense that apple would want PS3 to be out asap and have it be screaming fast on the intel macs.

How about financial reasons. Macs are only 3-4% of the market, but it's probably reasonable to say they provide far, far more than 3-4% of Adobe's revenue. Drop the Mac and a big revenue hole will probably appear.

That does make sense. What doesn't make sense is Adobe letting Apple in its doors. My attitude would be: you'll get it when you get it, so back off.

word is that apple has sent a bunch of developers over to adobe to get cs3 out the door. I would say that is probably true. Also rumored is that Apple will be pulling all non-universal apps from its retail store shelves by July. Microsoft & Adobe will be the only ones to not get yanked, for obvious reasons. Not uncommon. Two companies I have worked for sent developers to MS to
get things rolling...
