Went out today looking for a shot for the challenge, and came away
with this shot of a deer From Fort Snelling State Park in Mn. (it's no good
for the challenge, but oh well)

I hadn't used my D reb 300 or the Sigma 80-400os lately, so I figured
I take them out for a walk. :D

As always, thanks for looking.

Nice shot of the deer!!! I have a feeling that once this challenge is over, we will still all be looking for that shot..........and that is probably when we will find it!!!! I haven't found it yet.....:uhoh

Nice deer Dave. I like deer in the winter with their thick coat of fur.

Dave, I would take that shot over a challenge shot any day. I am not entering this challenge, just cannot imagine thinking up anything better than has already been entered or thought up.

But it is on my mind all the time.

A challenge shot, is a challenge shot, very often. Unless it wins, and then it becomes a bit more for me. But I have many shots I like better than my winning shots, there just was no challenge for the shot at that time.

Now, that deer, to me that is a keeper. Would look better on a coffee cup than my last challenge entries, or most of them, smile.

I would love to see a deer like that, to say the least of getting as good a photo.

Excelent shot Dave!:thumb I love seeing these kind of shots. There are not enough photo's of deer/elk/antelope, etc. on this site. But plenty of birds! With all due respect to the bird shooters (and there are some GREAT ones out there) I have to go with shots like this. Very nice. :clap

Harry, Ginger, Jim, Thanks.

I like to get some "critter" shots when I can, but living in town, those
chances don't come along everyday. But it sure is fun when it does. :D

Hey, you look awefully familiar...where have I seen you before? :wink

p.s. I love that shot...I love how it's framed by the trees.

Thanks guys.

No blind used for this shot. I was just driving through the Park when I
saw 6-8 deer. This one stopped and posed for me in that small opening
in the woods. This is the only way I'll shoot a deer. I'm not much of a
blood and guts kind of guy. A lot of friends deer hunt, but it's just not for me.

Compo is terrific...:thumb

The curve of the tree to left matches the neck and the straight tree to the right follows the leg. :):
