F-15 Eagle over Florida.
I think the clouds are the star of the show here. The jet exhaust make them very Van Gogh-like.

Wild! That's very neat. Shot from the ground?

You can see the vapor trails off the front edge of the wing. That guy is pulling some serious Gs. Nice shot.

ok, now THAT is a shot. Gotta ask if you can share some of your setting or post processing info. I don't want to steal your info, I just have THE WORST time shooting the Blue Angels when they come out here to Seattle every year in August.

Thanks, BB. Let's see if I can remember. I think the most radical thing I did was to put more pixels in the black with the left Levels slider to bring out the dynamic shades of gray in the clouds, then I darkened the blue sky a bit; it was a tad pale. That's about all. The exhaust rippled the clouds.

Those are difficult shots to make.
The composition is very nice and it really gives the feeling of speed
Congrats

Nice back-lighting. Takes me back to my days in the USN.
Let's hear it for the U.S. Navy, the world's greatest!

I head out to Oshkosh, WI every year at the end of July for the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) big event. Here's a few shots from this last year. I have a problem/question on shooting aircraft, especially prop driven aircraft. I'd like to get more blur in propeller motion, but that means slower shutter and more prone to unintentional blur of me not matching the rate of motion. Planes with frozen props just don't look quite right.

Maybe a better example of propeller motion here of P-51 Mustang "Big Beautiful Doll" taxiing to the runway:

I disagree. The haloing effect on the vapors is nuts!

It was an air show at a civilian airport in Florida. Great opportunity to photograph a variety of aircraft.

HAHA! Airplanes, now we're talking!!! (who wants to read the car-talk thread, if there is a thread about planes :D ) You've got some cool shots in there, great job :thumb I like the one from the blue angels, you can see where the smoke gets released...
