I cannot retake, you all certainly do know that I cannot retake this. It will rain tomorrow, the nest will be built to cover the egg, the folliage will have come out more, etc. But anything I can do here. I go out when the light is low and I get this color out of it, but I can take it out. Should I??
I, uh, don't know how else to best use this forum for me........ These are not sitting there stagnant waiting for me to retake. But I want this shot as good as possible.
That is a real egg there. I didn't think so, geez, it is a real egg!
The exif is: f 6.3, ISO 800, 400mm, 1/500, EV -0.67

Hey ginger :)
I'd say maybe a tighet crop, with them in the bottom right, and some brances in the 2/3rds negative space on the left -- it would add some visual tension, which I think is one of the only things lacking here! I love it :)

I agree with some cropping. That gorgeous little egg is almost lost, all the branches (which ARE lovely), over-power the tenderness of the scene. The lighting and color are gorgeous! I wouldn't mess with the color at all! :thumb

Hi, thanks for the cropping suggestion, I will try that! I had spent a bunch of time working on it, not much crop, but color stuff. Before I went to bed and before you saw it, I would think, I decided to do it more simply. No crop and very little color stuff, so that is saturation up only about 15 and USM and that is about all there.
I noticed while I was doing that that the tree would be a "presence", the trunk would I mean, if I were to crop it. So I will try cropping, with the tree the birds, egg in mind.
Thanks so much for looking and commenting.
Uh, I don't think I can post the fixed part can I? I will have to ask David, or read his newest rules.
Thanks again,
ginger

The color is great just the way it is. I wonder if it would be possible to make the egg ever so slightly brighter so that it stands out a bit more. Perhaps cropping would do that as well, don't know. Lovely pic as is, so don't fuss with it too much. :thumb

Thanks, Richard, am afraid to mess with the egg at all. I really pulled back on how much I had messed with the whole photo.........seemed to help. Boy those busy trees allow me to see through them, but they are confusing me in my compositions.
This is the follow up thread! I made two choices. The original from here is there, too. It is on Shenanigans, actually.
Please go there and tell me which you like, if either, follow up.

The rules only allowed for one follow up shot, no interim, and I had to have more discussion, with the photos. One crop is tighter. One puts the birds to my right.......?????
thanks so much, ginger
